
Aeros shuffle hockey operations, communications departments

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn./HOUSTON, Texas - Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has named Matt Shaw, who spent the last seven seasons as an Assistant Coach for the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL), as Video Coach. In addition, the Aeros today named Ryan Stanzel Vice President of Communications and Administration, and Scott Henninger Communications Manager.
Shaw, 41 (10/11/65), will be responsible for pre-scouting all opposing teams along with analyzing each game as it occurs. He spent the last seven seasons as an Assistant Coach for the Aeros, the Wild's primary development affiliate. Shaw also served as Assistant General Manager for Houston. He helped lead the Aeros to a record of 273-215-74 (.552) in his seven years with the organization. Shaw was a member of the Aeros' Calder Cup title team in 2003, and led Quad City to the United Hockey League's Colonial Cup in 1997. He also coached the ECHL's Mobile Mysticks and was an assistant with the AHL's Chicago Wolves. Shaw has been behind the bench for more than 1,000 professional and collegiate contests.
Stanzel, 29 (5/10/78), recently completed his fourth season as the Aeros' Director of Communications. In his new role, Stanzel will continue to oversee the communications department, while also handling team travel and other administrative duties in the hockey office. The Galway, N.Y., native came to the Aeros in 2003 from the ECHL's Louisiana IceGators. The ECHL's Media Relations Director of the Year for the 2002-2003 season, Stanzel graduated from Wingate (N.C.) University in 2000.
Henninger, 24 (11/13/82), served as Communications and Broadcast Apprentice with the Minnesota Wild and the National Lacrosse League's Minnesota Swarm during the 2006-07 season. The Victoria, Minn., native graduated from Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 2005. Henninger has also interned with the American Association's Saint Paul Saints, the WNBA's Minnesota Lynx and the Pro Wakeboard Tour. Henninger will assist Stanzel in the day-to-day administration of the Aeros' communications department.
