Quebec City - 3B Michael Thompson's two-out, two-run single in the first inning was the difference as the Quebec Capitales defeated the Brockton Rox, 2-0, in the regularly-scheduled game at Stade de Quebec on Thursday evening in a Can-Am League affair.

Wayne Lundgren was the tough-luck losing pitcher for the Rox (7-9 second half, 34-29 overall), going seven innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits while fanning six. Tony Cate picked up the win, shutting out Brockton through eight innings, striking out four.

DH Jeff Hanson was 2-for-3 on the night, the only Brockton player with more than one hit on the night.

In the completion of the suspended game from Wednesday evening, Quebec (10-6, 40-23) used a six-run second inning to earn a 10-1 win over the Rox.

Capitales newcomer C Pete LaForest hit a two-run fourth-inning home run, while CF Sebastien Boucher went 2-for-3. Seven different players had hits for the Rox; 1B Shawn Williams and SS Dominic Ramos each added a double.

The Rox return to Brockton for the first of a three-game series against first-place Pittsfield on Friday night, with Mike Smith (8-3) facing the Colonials' David Qualben (4-5) at 7:05 p.m.
