Fayetteville Marksmen News Release
FAYETTEVILLE, NC-- The Cape Fear FireAntz of the Atlantic Coast Hockey League (ACHL) announced today that the team has fired Head Coach Shawn Ulrich.
Under Ulrich, the FireAntz compiled a 15(1)-21 record (29 points) which currently puts the club in fourth place of the six-team ACHL.
"We are disappointed with the results we've been getting," said FireAntz President/ General Manager Kevin MacNaught. "I truly feel that we have a good team and some very talented players that we can win with."
Ulrich, who coached the Asheville Smoke of the United Hockey League last season, was named the first head coach in FireAntz franchise history on June 5, 2002.
The FireAntz have yet to name a replacement for Ulrich. MacNaught expects to have a new coach hired in time for the FireAntz game against Jacksonville at the Crown Coliseum on January 15.
