
Canucks Reassign Forwards Jake Virtanen and Jared McCann to Comets

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the Canucks have reassigned forwards Jake Virtanen from the Calgary Hitmen and Jared McCann from the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds to the Utica Comets.
Virtanen, 18, recently completed his fourth season playing for the WHL Calgary Hitmen. He helped his club advance to the WHL Eastern Conference final, where he registered 13 points (5-8-13) in 14 playoff games. During the regular season, the 6'1", 212-pound forward tallied 52 points (21-31-52) and 82 penalty minutes in 50 games played. He ranked third on the team in points per game at 1.04.
The Abbotsford, BC, native was originally selected by Vancouver sixth overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
McCann, 18, recently completed his third full season playing for the OHL Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. He helped the Greyhounds advance to the OHL Western Conference final, where he ranked tied for second on the team in playoff scoring with 16 points (6-10-16) in 14 games played. During the regular season, the 6'0", 174-pound forward appeared in 56 games, setting new career-highs and finishing second on the team in goals (34), assists (47), and points (81).
The London, ON, native was originally selected by Vancouver 24th overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
