Canucks re-assign Kesler to Moose

The Vancouver Canucks today announced they have re-assigned centre Ryan Kesler to the Manitoba Moose.

Kesler, 19, was most recently recalled by the Canucks on January 17, 2004. He has played in 18 games with the Canucks this season, registering one goal and one assist. His first NHL point came when he assisted on Mike Keane's goal in the first period against the Montreal Canadiens on Nov. 24. He then scored his first-ever NHL goal Nov. 29 vs. the Calgary Flames.

The Livonia, MI. native has appeared in 25 games so far this season with the Moose, scoring two goals and seven assists for nine points and 21 PIM.

Kesler was also recently part of the US National Junior Team who captured that country's first-ever gold medal at the 2004 IIHF World Junior Championships in Helsinki, FIN. Kesler finished the tournament with three goals. He also participated in the 2003 IIHF World Junior Championship with Team USA and was second in team scoring with seven points.

Last season, Kesler played with Ohio State (CCHA) as a freshman, scoring 11 goals and 20 assists to rank fourth in scoring.

Kesler was previously recalled to the Canucks on November 23, 2003. He was Vancouver's first choice, 23rd overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
