
Canucks Assign Hedberg to the Moose

Today, the Vancouver Canucks announced they have assigned goaltender Johan Hedberg to the Manitoba Moose for conditioning purposes.
Hedberg, 30, has appeared in nine games with the Canucks this season, posting a 5-2-2 record with a 2.17 goals against average and a .910 save percentage. Hedberg has been out of the Canucks' line-up since December 9th , 2003 when he suffered a wrist injury.
This will be the Leksand, SWE native's third stint with the Moose organization. In 2000- 01, Hedberg played in 46 games, recording 23 wins and a goals against average of 2.56 before being traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins. In 1997-98, Hedberg played in 14 games and compiled a 2.58 goals against average with eight wins. Overall, he has a career goals against average of 2.56 with 31 wins in 60 appearances. He is one win shy of Alex Auld for second all-time in Moose history.
During his four-year career in the NHL with Vancouver and Pittsburgh, Hedberg has played in 125 games and compiled a goals against average of 2.83 with 51 wins.
Hedberg was acquired by the Canucks in a trade with Pittsburgh in exchange for Vancouver's second-round choice in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the ninth round, 218th overall, in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.
