YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Add another honor to the list. Already the most decorated player in Youngstown Phantoms history, center Austin Cangelosi received one final accolade Wednesday when he was voted to the 2012-13 All-USHL Second Team.

Cangelosi is the first player in franchise history to be voted All-USHL after leading the Phantoms in scoring with 21 goals, 43 assists and 64 points in just 56 games this season.

"I couldn't be happier or more proud of Austin," head coach Anthony Noreen said. "He's one of those guys who could go the entire season without scoring for us and still be our MVP based on the little things he does, the way he competes every shift and his leadership.

"He embodies everything we want our guys and our program to be about and he's got long, bright future ahead of him."

An Estero, Fla., native, Cangelosi was voted co-captain by his teammates prior to the start of the 2012-13 and opened the campaign with 5-4-9 over the first three games. The second-year forward, who missed four games while leading Team USA to gold in the World Junior A Challenge, recorded a pair of hat tricks throughout the season and racked up 4-11-15 over a nine-game point streak from March 3 - 24.

When Cangelosi was at his best, the Phantoms were at their best going 14-3-0 when he scored a goal and 16-1-0 when he notched more than one point.

He recorded his 94th career point to surpass Mike Ambrosia as the franchise's all-time leading scorer in a 5-1 win over the Indiana Ice Jan 25 and became the USHL's Tier 1 era short-handed goals leader with his 11th career tally March 22 in Indiana.

"He's the best penalty killer I've ever seen," Noreen said. "He's great in his own end and the best draw guy I've ever seen."

In two seasons with Youngstown, Cangelosi recorded 50-73-123 and a plus-34 rating in 109 games and added 5-7-12 in 15 postseason games. He was selected to represent Team USA at the World Junior A Challenge twice, earned CCM Offensive Player of the Week honors twice and was named to the 2011-12 USHL All-Rookie Team.

Cangelosi finished his career ranked first in Phantoms franchise history in assists, points, game-winning goals (6); power-play assists (26) and points (40); short-handed goals (11) and points (16); and ranked second in goals and plus-minus. Additionally, he is the franchise's all-time postseason goals leader and ranks second in points.
