Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa-Three members of the 2012/13 Waterloo Black Hawks will attend the NHL Scouting Combine beginning Monday in Toronto.

Ian McCoshen, Cal Petersen, and Eamon McAdam were each among the prospects invited to the event, which will last through next Saturday. The six-day gathering will allow scouts to interview players and conduct physical fitness tests. The combine roster includes only 13 other players who appeared in the USHL last season.

"The 101 players that the NHL believes are the best will be there," explained Waterloo Black Hawks Head Coach P.K. O'Handley, "to give all the teams an opportunity to see their level of physical fitness and stamina, and so the scouts can meet them individually to judge psychologically and emotionally what a player could bring to their organization."

McCoshen, Petersen, and McAdam were all highly-regarded in the NHL Central Scouting Service's final rankings released last month. McCoshen was slotted as the 24th-best prospect among North American skaters. Petersen and McAdam were fourth and sixth respectively on a separate list of goaltenders playing in the United States and Canada.

The 2013 NHL Draft will be held June 30th in New Jersey. The league's 30 teams will pick 210 players in total over seven rounds. In addition to the three Waterloo representatives attending the combine, forwards Taylor Cammarata and Justin Kloos also appeared in Central Scouting's final rankings.
