Canaries Sign Starting Pitcher Bryce Morrow

SIOUX FALLS, SD- The Sioux Falls Canaries announced on Wednesday afternoon that the organization has come to terms with starting pitcher Bryce Morrow for the 2017 American Association season.
Morrow, 29, enters his first year with the Canaries after going 4-2 with a 4.55 ERA while pitching mostly in relief for the Atlantic League's Somerset Patriots. He began the season at the double-A level with the San Diego Padres organization, where he went 1-7 with a 5.94 ERA in nine starts.
The Grand Rapids, MI native began his career at the Independent level, going 15-10 while making 36 appearances (30 as a starter) in the Frontier League prior to catching on with the Padres. He spent four seasons in the minor league system, including a stint at the triple-A level during his 2015 campaing, where he went 2-2 with a 5.88 ERA in six starts.
Morrow's best season came in 2014, where he went 4-5 with a 3.13 ERA in 16 appearances (13 starts) with the double-A San Antonio Missions. He backed that effort up in 2015, going 5-3 with a 4.38 ERA in 13 appearances prior to his call-up to triple-A.
The talented right-hander enters his seventh professional season holding a 36-32 record with a 4.16 ERA while recording 374 strikeouts and just 139 walks over 534 innings of work.
The Sioux Falls Canaries enter their 25th season on May 18th against the Sioux City Explorers at Lewis & Clark Park.
