Sioux Falls Canaries News Release
Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Canaries today revealed the cover to their 2006 Game Program. The program cover was designed by Jasmine Richard, a fifth grader at Harvey Dunn Elementary School. Jasmine submitted her cover as part of the Canaries contest asking third, fourth, and fifth graders at Sioux Falls schools to design this year's cover.
"We received over 500 entries in the contest, and each provided a unique perspective on what Canaries baseball means to the student," said Canaries Public Relations Director Matt Meola. "It was difficult to pick just one cover out of all the great art that we received, but we feel Jasmine's work best captured the excitement and fun of Canaries baseball."
For winning the contest, Jasmine received a $250 prize. The Canaries also donated an additional $250 to Jasmine's art class, money that will be used to buy new art supplies. Jasmine also received an invitation to throw out a ceremonial first pitch prior to the Canaries game against St. Paul on Thursday, May 25. All students who submitted artwork for the contest received a "Buy One, Get One Free" ticket voucher for the May 25 game, a night when all of the artwork submitted for the contest will be hung throughout the stadium.
