
Pelicans Flock to Pensacola, It Must be Spring

Today the Pensacola Pelicans unveil their spring training roster and schedule for the 2006 season.
Players have come in from all four corners including Maryland, California, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic for a shot at making the team this season. Excitement level is at an all time high as new field manager Kash Beauchamp gets the team ready for the season.
The spring training roster includes 28 players and will turn into 23 for the start of the Pelicans first ever season in the American Association. After the first two weeks of the season, the Pelicans along with every other team in the league will get their final roster down to 22 for the remainder of the season.
Fans will notice many familiar faces at Pelican Park as these former Pelicans return: infielders George Branch, Larry Bethea, and Carlos Mendoza outfielders Juan Rocha and Palmer Karr and pitchers Bubba Dobson, Josh Courage, Santos Hernandez, and Matt Perdue.
There will also be several new bodies joining the squad this season: infielders Bo Brown, Jared Johnson, Tony Sanguinetti, Tim Dorn, Luis Guance, and Beau McMillian, outfielders Rolo Avila, Greg Horton, and Ed Montague, and pitchers Rusty Begneaud, Casey Clary, Clark Girardeau, Charles O'Neal, Tony Pierce, Lazaro Pineiro, Sam Smith, Clint Sodowsky, Jake Vose, and Benny Walker.
Pensacola has enjoyed enormous success making the playoffs each of their first four seasons. Heading into the 2006 season, expectations are high for reaching the post season for the fifth straight year. With just the right mix of returning players and new talented ball players, the Pelicans hopes are high to keep the winning tradition alive in Pensacola.

- Saturday, April 29th - 9 am @ Gulf Breeze High School
- Sunday, April 30th - 4pm @ Gulf Breeze High school
- Monday, May 1 - 9am @ Pelican Park
- Tuesday - Sunday , May 2-7 - 4 pm @ Pelican Park
- Monday, May 8 - 7:05 pm Exhibition Game @ Jay High School
- Tuesday and Wednesday May 9-10 - 4 pm @ Pelican Park
- Thursday May 11th - 6:35 pm Opening Night @ Pelican Park
