Sioux Falls Canaries News Release

(SIOUX FALLS, SD) – The Sioux Falls Canaries bats again were active Sunday afternoon, but a lapse defensively and some timely hitting by the St. Paul Saints helped the visiting club forge a 6-6 tie in Marshall, MN.

With the same teams playing a day after the Birds topped the Saints 3-1 in St. Paul Saturday night, 1,836 fans were treated to a combined 24 hits between the two clubs. 3B Troy Farnsworth and LF/1B Desi Wilson each had three hits for the Canaries. Wilson's three-run homer in the sixth inning off of St. Paul LHP Kevin Goodrum game the Canaries the 6-5 lead.

St. Paul CF Corey Harris led off the ninth inning with a triple off of Canaries closer and ex-Saint, RHP Rodney Dickinson and came in to score the tying run on 2B Justin Hall's RBI groundout. DH Eddie Pearson led an 11-hit St. Paul attack, going 3-4 with a home run and two RBI.

RHP Corey Dagley started the game for the Canaries, allowing three earned runs in four innings. LHP Dallas Mahan tossed the next three frames, surrendering two unearned runs that allowed St. Paul to take a 5-3 lead on two Farnsworth errors. LHP Jacob Whitney permitted three runs in five innings of work for the Saints, with the Birds plating all three runs in the first inning.

The Canaries are next in action Monday night when they take on the Sioux City Explorers in Winner, SD. They kick off the regular season Friday night in Schaumburg, IL.
