Canadiens Assign Rene Bourque to Bulldogs

MONTREAL, QUE. - Montreal Canadiens and Hamilton Bulldogs general manager Marc Bergevin announced today the Canadiens have assigned forward Rene Bourque to the Bulldogs.

In 11 games with Montreal this season, Bourque has recorded two assists and six penalty minutes.

In 573 career National Hockey League regular season games with the Canadiens, Calgary Flames and Chicago Blackhawks, the Lac La Biche, Alta. native has recorded 278 points (142 goals, 136 assists) and 474 penalty minutes. In 79 career American Hockey League regular season games with the Norfolk Admirals, the 32-year-old has recorded 60 points (33 goals, 27 assists) and 105 penalty minutes.

Undrafted, Bourque was originally signed as a free agent by the Chicago Blackhawks on July 29, 2004 following a four-year collegiate career with the University of Wisconsin Badgers. The 6-2, 214-pound forward was acquired by the Canadiens via trade with the Calgary Flames along with Patrick Holland and a 2013 second-round draft pick in exchange for Mike Cammalleri, Karri Ramo and a 2012 fifth-round pick on January 12, 2012.

The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday, Nov. 13 when they'll visit the St. John's IceCaps at Mile One Centre at 6 p.m. The 'Dogs will be back at home on Sunday, Nov. 16 when they'll host the Rochester Americans at FirstOntario Centre at 3 p.m.
