IceCaps Sellout Streak in Jeopardy

St. John's IceCaps News Release

The St. John's IceCaps announced today their sellout streak, currently the second-longest in American Hockey League history, is in danger of coming to an end Thursday when the Hamilton Bulldogs visit Mile One Centre.

The IceCaps have sold-out every regular-season game in their four-year existance - 120 in total - and are chasing the league record of 144, held by the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The IceCaps could break that record on Friday, March 13 versus the Manchester Monarchs. However, the streak is in serious jeopardy with upwards of 800 tickets still remaining for Thursday night's home game.

IceCaps President and CEO Danny Williams says the sellout streak has given the false perception to many in the community that tickets simply are not available to the general public.

"We've been fortunate this season that we have managed to fill the seats due to walk-up sales," said Mr. Williams. "At this point it seems unlikely that we will be able to pull that off again on Thursday. However, I'm hopeful our fans will get a clear picture of how things stand and will take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy live professional hockey and support our team and city's effort to put the IceCaps in the record books."

"Regardless of what happens, the IceCaps ticket-sale percentage remains among the very highest in the league and is the envy of most. And for that I would like to sincerely thank our tremendous fans."
