Canadiens Assign Kyle Chipchura To Bulldogs

HAMILTON, ON - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that the club has assigned centre Kyle Chipchura to the Hamilton Bulldogs.
Chipchura, 22, has not played any games for the Canadiens this season but recorded a goal in four pre-season games with the club. In 2007-2008, the native of Westlock, Alberta split the season between Hamilton and Montreal recording 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 36 games during his rookie season with the Habs. In 39 games with the 'Dogs, Chipchura posted 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists).
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound centre has played in a total of 127 regular season games for the Bulldogs registering 63 points (23 goals, 40 assists). Montreal's 1st round, 18th overall, selection in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft also won the Calder Cup with Hamilton in 2007, ranking third on the team in scoring with 13 points (six goals, seven assists) after playing in all 22 post-season games. Chipchura is also a former recipient of the Flamboro Downs Workhorse of the Game award (formerly the Pearson-Dunn Player of the Year award), winning the trophy for the 2006-2007 season.
After opening the season with back-to-back road wins versus the Manitoba Moose, the Bulldogs host the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday, October 17th at 7:30 p.m. for their 2008-2009 home opener at Copps Coliseum. The 'Dogs welcome the Norfolk Admirals to Copps Coliseum the following night on Saturday, October 18th at 7:00 p.m. for the first time in 13 years.
