Vancouver Canadians News Release
(Avista Stadium - Spokane, WA) - Canadians RHP Eric Brown scattered one hit over his four innings of work while 1B Balbino Fuenmayor hit a three-run home run in the top of the 3rd inning to pace Vancouver to an 8-1 victory in Spokane on Friday night.
Five Canadians pitchers limited the Indians offensive to just three hits on the night with RHP Javier Avendano (1-0) struck out four straight over his two scoreless innings to pick up the first win of the season for Vancouver.
Offensively, a familiar face was back at it as 1B Balbino Fuenmayor connected on a pitch from Indians starter RHP John Kukuruda (0-1) for his first home run of the season that scored both LF Ian Parmley and RF Nick Baligod. Fuenmayor would pick up four RBI on the night in a 2-for-5 performance. Vancouver C Dan Klein would also hit his first professional home run in the top of the 6th inning as part of a 2-for-3 night at the plate.
With the win, Vancouver improves to 1-0 (1.000) on the season and will look for their second straight victory on Saturday night as they send RHP Taylor Cole (0-0) to the mound against Indians RHP Jose Valdespina (0-0). First pitch from Avista Stadium is 6:30pm.
