(PK Park - Eugene, OR) - The Canadians took a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the 8th inning but couldn't hold onto it as the Eugene Emeralds scored a pair in the 8th and a walk off run in the bottom of the 9th inning to top Vancouver 6-5 on Monday night. The loss kept Vancouver (8-11) three games back in the North Division.

A two-run double off the bat of 3B Carl Wise got the Canadians on the board in the top of the 3rd inning as both C Kevin Garcia (walk) and Earl Burl III (fielder's choice) scored to give Vancouver a 2-0 lead.

Eugene would plate the next three runs of the game as trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the 5th inning, CF Ian Happ would hit a two-run single that scored both RF Kevonte Mitchell (double) and LF Donnie Dewees (single) to give the Emeralds a 3-2 lead.

That lead would last just a few minutes as Vancouver would tie the game on RF Sean Hurley's 5th home run of the summer off of Eugene RHP Pedro Araujo who allowed a double to LF Connor Panas, a single to C Kevin Garcia and a base hit to Earl Burl III that put Vancouver up 4-3.

The Canadians would get an "insurance" run in the top of the 8th inning when 2B Lane Thomas managed an infield single and eventually came around to score on a suicide squeeze bunt from C Kevin Garcia that gave the C's a two-run cushion.

That cushion was made of rock as the Emeralds would score a pair of runs in the bottom of the 8th inning with C Ian Rice grabbing an RBI single that scored PR Ho-Young Son to tie the game at 5-5.

In the bottom of the 9th inning, the Canadians unraveled as RHP Joey Aquino was victim to a pair of defensive gaffs shortly after RF Kevonte Mitchell singled to left field, LF Donnie Dewees hit a high fly ball to left field that LF Connor Panas had a beat on, but CF Earl Burl III engaged on as well, and the ball dropped between the two defenders putting the winning run at third base with no one out. The very next batter, 2B Frandy de la Rosa hit a fly abll into right field and RF Sean Hurley dropped that one as well, allowing Mitchell to score uncontested giving the Emeralds a come-from-behind 6-5 victory.
