Canadians ace strikes out nine as five pitchers help top Indians on Saturday

(Avista Stadium - Spokane, WA) - Pitching took center stage out at Avista Stadium on Saturday night as five Canadians arms limited the top offensive team in the Northwest League to just three hits as Vancouver topped the Spokane Indians 2-1 to win their second straight road game.

The Canadians grabbed the lead in the top of the 3rd inning when SS Bryan Kervin slapped a single to center field off of Spokane starter RHP Santos Perez, scoring C Garrett Maines giving Vancouver a 1-0 lead.

A hard hit single from Canadians 2B Roan Salas cashed in 3B Balbino Fuenmayor in the top of the 4th inning extending the road teams lead to 2-0.

Canadians starter LHP Justin Nicolino was causing the Indians offense fits while improving his record to 3-1 on the summer. Nicolino would go five scoreless innings giving up just a lone hit while striking out nine before giving way to the Vancouver bullpen.

LHP Shane Davis would come into the game and allow the only run of the night to the Indians as in the bottom of the 6th inning, Davis would walk CF Zach Cone who would steal second base, advance to third base on a ground out from DH Brett Nicholas and score on a wild pitch cutting the Canadians lead to 2-1.

Vancouver wouldn't be denied as the combination of RHP Eric Brown, LHP Alex Pepe and RHP Philip Brua shut down the Spokane offense over the final three innings to help secure the Canadians 14th win of the summer and second straight victory over the Indians out at Avista Stadium.
