Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs, in conjunction with TD Canada Trust and McMaster Children's Hospital, have announced that the 12th Annual TD Canada Trust 'Smiles on Ice' game will take place on Friday, January 25th, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. when the Hamilton Bulldogs host the Quad City Flames at Copps Coliseum.
This year's patient ambassador for the game is six-year-old Kate Adams, while Captain Ajay Baines is the Hamilton Bulldogs ambassador. Proceeds from the game will go to 'Smiles on Ice' in support of McMaster Children's Hospital.
"We are excited to once again team up with TD Canada Trust and Hamilton Health Sciences for the 12th Annual 'Smiles on Ice' game on Friday, January 25th at Copps Coliseum," said Hamilton Bulldogs President and Governor Glenn Stanford. "Last year, thanks to the generosity and commitment of our fans, TD Canada Trust, and their patrons, the 'Smiles On Ice' game surpassed the $200,000 mark in total monies raised for Mac Kids over the first 11 years. We have assisted and supported McMaster Children's Hospital throughout our 12 years in Hamilton, and we look forward to continue this tradition for many years to come," said Stanford.
"At McMaster Children's Hospital our success is largely due to the incredible community support and investment that exists in Hamilton and the surrounding region," said Dr. Peter Steer, President, McMaster Children's Hospital. "TD Canada Trust and the Hamilton Bulldogs are great corporate partners that have demonstrated incredible dedication over the last 12 years through the annual 'Smiles on Ice' game. Their ongoing commitment enables us to provide the best care possible for our most important citizens - - our children."
Rene Quercia, the District Vice President, TD Canada Trust stated, "Once again, for our 12th straight year, on behalf of TD Canada Trust in Hamilton, Niagara and surrounding communities, we are proud to sponsor 'Smiles on Ice' for Mac Kids. We are so privileged to have a world-class facility like McMaster Children's Hospital within our community. TD Canada Trust throws its full support behind children's healthcare and with the help of our staff and customers, the 'Smiles' game is one way we are able to do that here in Hamilton." Quercia added, "This event, featuring Hamilton's Calder Cup Champions, gets better every year and has allowed us to raise more than $200,000 for McMaster Children's Hospital."
