Brockton 4, New Jersey 3

The Jackals used a Myron Leslie bases-clearing double to turn a 4-0 deficit into just a one-run disadvantage with no outs recorded in the eighth, poised to tie or take a lead against a Brockton club that had led since the fourth. Enter the Rox bullpen - first Mark Rosen, then Jimmer Kennedy - who retired the following three batters to maintain starter Dustin Birosak's one-run lead after eight frames. Kennedy then faced the minimum in the bottom of the ninth to preserve the win and earn his second save of the season. Birosak's win - however narrow - leaves him at 5-0 on the season in eight starts. The Rox built their four-run lead with small ball in the middle innings and nary an extra-base hit to be seen. Rox RF Keith Brachold and 2B Shawn Williams each went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Leslie's three-run double was his only hit of the game.

Quebec 8, Newark 4

Quebec and Newark fought back and forth through six innings, seeing three ties and two lead changes. But in the seventh, Capitales 1B Rene Leveret put his team on top for good. With the bases loaded and the Bears leading, 4-3, Leveret knocked the first pitch he saw from Newark reliever Kyle Morrison out of the park for a momentum-shifting and eventual game-winning grand slam. The blast was Leveret's eighth home run of the season and the first of two for the Capitales in the game. 3B Pete Laforest notched a solo shot in the ninth for insurance, making the final score 8-4. The Bears led on three separate occasions, taking their first advantage at 1-0 on a Kyle Davis RBI double in the second. But despite leading 2-1 and 4-3 later in the contest, the Bears never built a lead that could withstand Leveret's four-run homer.

Worcester 14, New York 2

The Tornadoes put at least one run on the board in the first seven innings, including a five-run sixth, to dominate New York and take 14-2 win Friday night. Worcester DH Nick Salotti hit his 12th home run of the season, a two-run dinger in the fifth, scored four runs and batted in three to bolster an already impressive 3-for-3 night. He also walked twice. The Federals took the first lead of the game at 1-0 in the top of the first on a Jacob Fabry single. But that didn't last long, and before anyone knew it, Worcester was well on its way to a double-digit triumph. Two more Tornadoes batters earned three hits against the Federals, with 3B Mark Minicozzi going 3-for-5 with two run and an RBI and 2B Tony Patane going 3-for-4, a run and two RBI.

Pittsfield 12, Rockland 5

Through six innings, the Colonials and Boulders were deadlocked at four runs each. That's when the Pittsfield bats woke up. Regardless of which Rockland reliever toed the rubber, the Colonials just kept racking up runs until the scoreboard read Pittsfield 12, Rockland 5. The late-inning surge started on a Billy Mottram RBI fielder's choice compounded with a two-run error by Boulders SS Mike Richard. That play commenced a five-run frame that put all the momentum in Pittsfield's favor. A three-run ninth from the Colonials was icing on the cake, taking what had been a tight contest and turning it into what appeared to be a blowout. Colonials 1B Angel Molina led all players with four hits and tied for the lead in runs and RBI, earning two each. The winning pitcher for Pittsfield was starter Chad Paronto, who threw seven and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on 11 hits with six strikeouts.
