The Quebec Capitales got a great effort from starting pitcher Kevin Beavers and scored in bunches to back him up en route to an easy win on the road. Beavers allowed two runs on six hits and struck out three in eight innings of work to improve to 2-2 on the season. Capitales 3B Pat Deschenes and 1B Eddie Lantigua each homered and combined to go 3-for-8 with four runs scored and two RBI. Nashua DH Dennis Abreu continues to be a hot hitter. He came into the game hitting at a .391 clip and was 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the losing effort.

Atlantic City 2, Brockton 1
@ Brockton, MA. Time: 2:11 Attendance: 5,595
W: Kyle George (1-0) L: James Baker (1-2) S: Derek Duclos (2)
HR: BR-Phillip Cuadrado (1)
In a game that was tight to the finish, Atlantic City broke the ice by plating the first run of the game in the seventh inning. When Brockton answered in the eighth with a solo home run off the bat of 3B Phillip Cuadrado, it looked as if this one might be headed deep into the night. But the Surf mustered a rally in the ninth to plate the go-ahead run and reliever Derek Duclose tossed a perfect ninth to nail down the win and record his second save. It was a pitcher's duel to be sure, with both starters posting impressive outings although neither would factor in the decision. Atlantic City starter Brian Rodaway allowed just two hits and struck out three in seven shutout innings while his counterpart, Wayne Lundgren, allowed one run on three hits and struck out eight in eight innings.

Worcester 4, Ottawa 2
@ Worcester, MA. Time: 2:17 Attendance: 2,136
W: Junior Guerrero (2-1) L: Noel Baca III (1-3) S: John Birtwell (5)
HR: WT- Francisco Caraballo (5), Chris Colabello (3), Jeff LaHair (2)
Three swings of the bat proved enough for the Tornadoes at home as they got home runs from 1B Chris Colabello, LF Francisco Caraballo and DH Jeff LaHair. The three combined to drive in all four Worcester runs and starting pitcher Junior Guerrero did the rest. Guerrero allowed just three hits and struck out two without issuing a walk in six shutout innings en route to his second win of the year. Despite not hitting a homer, Tornadoes RF Scott Grimes was still very productive. He led all hitters with a 3-for-4 effort in which he scored on Colabello's two-run shot.

New Jersey 11, Sussex 8
@ Little Falls, NJ. Time: 2:54 Attendance: 3,003
W: Michael Vicaro (3-1) L: Michael Rogers (0-2) S: Rusty Tucker (4)
HR: NJ-Chris Kelly (3), Craig Maddox (2)
Though Sussex answered a two-run first inning from New Jersey with a five-run second, their bats proved no match for the hard-hitting Jackals. In the bottom half of the second New Jersey rallied for four runs of their own to reclaim the lead and scored four more in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach. Jackals 3B Chris Kelly led the way offensively. He was 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBI. New Jersey C Craig Maddox also homered and was 1-for-4.
