Sussex grabbed an early 3-0 lead and hung on to beat Ottawa 5-4 behind another fine outing from Kyle Ruwe. The Skyhawks righty improved to 7-1 as he allowed four earned runs on nine hits over 7 1/3 innings. C Yohanny Valera had a two-RBI double in the second inning and 3B Jay Yaconetti tacked on another with an RBI single to give Sussex the early lead. In the fifth inning 1B Matthew Weston hit his fifth home run of the year for what ended up being the deciding run of the contest. CF Ron Perodin, RF Jorge Moreno, and 2B Chris Brown each had two hits.

Quebec 2, Brockton 1

In a game where both starting pitchers performed very well, Quebec slipped by Brockton 2-1. Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth, the Capitales took advantage of two Brockton errors to score a run before 1B Pat Scalabrini added another with an RBI single to give them a 2-1 lead. Kevin Beavers completed the top of the seventh and then turned the game over to the bullpen which did not allow a hit. Beavers surrendered nine hits but just the one run to even his record at 3-3. Jason Schutt picked up his eighth save. Rox CF Ervin Alcantara went 3-for-4 in a losing effort.

New Jersey 16, Atlantic City 14

A league record 8,016 fans were treated to a wild contest that saw 30 total runs scored on 36 hits and an outcome that was uncertain until the final out. New Jersey grabbed a 7-0 lead in the top of the first before Atlantic City stormed in front 8-7 by scoring two in the first, four in the second, and two in the third inning. The Jackals fell behind 10-8 after four innings but scored four times in the fifth to reclaim the lead 12-10. Back and forth the teams went until the score read 14-14 in the top of the ninth. With the bases loaded, catcher Craig Maddox brought two runs home with a single to right for a 16-14 lead. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth Atlantic City put runners at second and third but closer Rusty Tucker got 3B Carter McQuigg to strikeout swinging which gave the Jackals the victory. Atlantic City's Brad Thoma homered twice in the loss.
