
Camilli Dominates For Edinburg, Splits Series

EDINBURG, Texas- The Edinburg Roadrunners starting pitcher Curtis Camilli pitched eight full innings striking out 11 and giving up just two hits as Edinburg split the series two games, defeating the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings 7-2 Monday night at Edinburg Stadium.
In the bottom of the second inning Edinburg's Carlton Salters reached second on the passed ball at first. Trevor Whyte then hit an RBI single scoring Salters giving Edinburg the 1-0 lead.
Camilli had a no hitter bid till the top of the fifth inning. Kieran Bradford broke that up with a one out single.
Bobby Rinard hit a routine fly ball to left field where WhiteWings left fielder Michael Garcia failed to make the routine play, advancing Rinard to third on the error.
With two outs in the inning, Carlton Salters belted an RBI single, scoring Rinard from third, making it 2-0 Edinburg.
A.J Smouse (3-1) was charged with his first loss of the year going six innings on eight hits and five earned runs.
In the sixth inning, starting Roadrunners catcher Dan Coury blasted a three run home run extending Edinburg's lead to 5-0.
Rio Grande Valley was silenced to just five hits; starting catcher Kieran Bradford went 3-for-4 on the night along with a solo home run in the sixth inning.
The WhiteWings hit the road Tuesday to kick off a four game series versus the Fort Worth Cats, as Edinburg welcomes in the Alexandria Aces for their four game series.
LaGrave Field will be the sight of Tuesday's game. First pitch is 7:05
