Colts Beat Aces with Walk-Off Single in Extras

San Angelo, Texas --- Shortstop Danny Hernandez hit a walk-off RBI single in the 10th inning to give the San Angelo Colts a 16-15 win in their series finale against the Alexandria Aces Monday night at Foster Field.
Hernandez's single scored left fielder Braden Embry from third base. Embry led the inning off with an infield single, and advanced to third on a base hit by centerfielder Oscar Garcia.
The Colts led big early, but squandered a 10-run lead in the middle innings. San Angelo went ahead 12-2 entering the fifth, but the Aces rallied for 11 runs over the course of three innings.
The game was tied at 13 after the seventh inning. Alexandria then went ahead for the third time, at 15-14 in the top of the ninth.
San Angelo tied the game in the bottom of the inning, courtesy of an RBI triple by first baseman Steve Rinaudo. The Colts then won it on Hernandez's walk-off single in extras.
Aces' closer Gabe Grammer (1-3) suffered the loss, allowing the winning run to score in the bottom of the 10th. Despite allowing a pair of runs in two innings of work, Colts' closer Alfredo Caballero (1-2) earned his first win of the year.
The victory improves San Angelo to 13-11, while the loss drops Alexandria 11-13. The Colts begin a four-game series with the McAllen Thunder Tuesday night at Foster Field.
It will be a $2 Tuesday, sponsored by Budweiser. All general admission tickets, longneck beers, hot dogs, sodas, peanuts, and popcorn are only $2, courtesy of Budweiser. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
