Camden Riversharks News Release

The Bridgeport Bluefish defeated the Camden Riversharks 13-7 in 10 innings Saturday night at Campbell's Field.

The red hot Bluefish continue to roll in the Atlantic League winning 12 of their last 14 games after taking an extra inning contest from Camden on Saturday. The game entered extra innings tied 7-7 but Bridgeport rallied for six runs in the top of the 10th off Camden relievers Tracy Thorpe, Ryan McKeller, and Keiran Mattison.

The Riversharks had trailed the entire game beginning in the top of the second inning when two runs came on a two out double by Tom Pennino. Heading into the bottom of the seventh, Camden was looking up at a 7-2 deficit when Estee Harris hit solo homerun and Brian Burgamy added his second RBI double of the game cutting the Bridgeport lead to three.

Sean Smith pinch hit for Richie Robnett to lead off the eighth and reached first on a bunt single. After Chris Malec walked, Teuris Olivares doubled in Smith. Grounded out to second plating Malec and the Riversharks had pulled within one.

With the tying run at third and one away, Bridgeport Manager, Willie Upshaw, called Miguel Saladin out of the bullpen. Von Hayes countered with Raul Padron as a pinch hitter. Padron was just activated from the disabled list before the game and had not had an at-bat since July 29th. He didn't waste any time smashing the first pitch he saw into centerfield for a ground rule double. Olivares scored tying the game at 7-7.

Saladin would pitch through the ninth and earn the win improving to 2-0 while Thorpe fell to 1-3 as he suffered the loss.

Bridgeport's Josh Phelps had a season high five hits scoring four runs and driving in three. Brian Burgamy lead the way for Camden with a pair of RBI doubles, giving him 77 RBI on the season.

The Camden Riversharks will play the final game of their home series tomorrow afternoon. To purchase tickets or for more information, please visit the website at www.riversharks.com or call 1-866-SHARKS-9.
