Calgary Vipers Lose To Flyers

Leading 4-0 after six innings the Calgary Vipers gave up six runs in the next two frames and went down in defeat 6-4 at the hands of the Orange County Flyers at Goodwin Field in Fullerton, California. Thanks to three runs in the sixth inning the Snakes went up 4-0 after six strong frames from starter Jay Broughton who allowed three hits and struck out five along the way. Orange County got to the Vipers' bullpen in the seventh with a two run homer and then in the eighth a costly error allowed the Flyers to score four runs with two outs to take the lead for good.

With the loss the Vipers' franchise record of nine straight road wins was snapped and they fell to 15-7 on the Golden Baseball League season. With a Chico Outlaws win the Snakes are now two and a half games back of first place in the North Division at the half way mark of the first half.

The Vipers continue their season long road trip which will see the team play ten games in the 11 days as the team travels to Tijuana, Mexico to take on the Big Horn Sheep on Friday June 18th at 8:30 PM MDT and a double-header on Saturday June 19th starting at 3:00 PM MDT. The trip wraps up in Victoria against the Seals on Monday June 21st, Tuesday June 22nd, Wednesday June 23rd, and Thursday June 24th all at 8:00 PM MDT.

The Vipers return home to Calgary and Foothills Stadium on Friday June 25th at 7:05 PM MDT against the Victoria Seals. On Saturday June 26th the two teams will play a double-header starting at 1:35 PM MDT and it will be Kid's Day at the ballpark where the Inflatamaniacs will perform along with Clowns and Magicians.

On Tuesday June 29th and Wednesday June 30th at 7:05 PM MDT the Vipers will host the Edmonton Capitals for a two-game series. After the game on the 30th the Vipers will host a Canada Day Fireworks Spectacular.

The Calgary Vipers will be hosting 2 to 1 Clinics for Ages 8-14 on Monday July 12th, Tuesday July 13th, and Wednesday July 14th from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM MDT. Each participant will be paired up with another child and one of the Vipers players for two hours of individual instruction and a live one hour game.
