Calgary Roughnecks Defeated by New York Riptide 11-10

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks were edged by the New York Riptide 11-10 in a tight battle on Friday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Both teams battled to maintain a lead of more than one goal throughout the game. New York took the first quarter 3-2 before the Riggers pulled ahead to end up 6-5 at the half, thanks to three goals in quick succession from Shane Simpson, Jeff Cornwall and Tanner Cook.

The second half saw plenty of penalties for both sides, with Calgary capitalizing on 3 of their 6 powerplays while New York went 4-5. Calgary were ultimately unable to pull ahead in the final frame, and with tonight's loss sit at 2-4 on the season.

Jesse King continues his streak of tallying 6 points or more, notching 3 goals and 3 assists, and also scooped 11 loose balls. Josh Currier added two to the tally, with Tyler Pace, Haiden Dickson, Shane Simpson, Jeff Cornwall and Tanner Cook all contributing one.

The Roughnecks are right back at it tomorrow night on WestJet Field at the Scotiabank Saddledome, taking on the Toronto Rock at 7pm MST for the Superhero Party.
