Calgary Roughnecks Defeated by Georgia Swarm in Overtime

Duluth, GA - The Calgary Roughnecks were defeated by the Georgia Swarm 13-12 Friday night at Gas South Arena, after a late push from the Roughnecks saw the game go to Calgary's first overtime this season.
The Swarm came out strong notching three goals within the first four minutes of the game, before Tyler Pace was able to get Calgary on the board. Thomas Hoggarth scored the final goal of the first quarter, keeping the Roughnecks within one. The second quarter saw nine goals fall, with Jesse King, Tanner Cook and Tyler Pace adding four goals for Calgary. Georgia maintained their lead, notching five goals to head into half time up 8-6.
The game slowed significantly in the third quarter. Eli Salama, back in the lineup after missing the last four games with injury, notched his first goal of the season, with Lyle Thompson adding one for Georgia. A push from Calgary in the final frame saw the Riggers take their first lead of the game thanks to goals from Shane Simpson and Josh Currier, plus an another three from Tyler Pace taking him to five goals on the night. Georgia were able to tie things up 12-12 with 48 seconds remaining in the game to force overtime, and ultimately scored the game winner.
Tyler Pace led the Roughnecks offensively with six points (5g, 1a). Jesse King added five points to his tally (1g, 4a) with Tanner Cook adding three assists. With Justin Inacio out of the lineup tonight, Zach Currier went 9-16 on the faceoff, with Eli Salama contributing 5-12 wins while also notching his first goal of the season.
Christian Del Bianco made 45 saves in net for the Roughnecks and recorded three assists. Georgia outshot Calgary 58-51.
Calgary is back in action on WestJet Field next Friday, March 15th for the biggest St Patrick's Day party in the city! Faceoff against the San Diego Seals is set for 7pm mst.
