Calgary Roughnecks Defeat Toronto Rock 11-10

Hamilton, ON - The Calgary Roughnecks defeated the Toronto Rock Saturday night at the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, snapping a three-game losing streak.

Jesse King opened the scoring for Calgary, and the Roughnecks finished the first quarter up 4-2 thanks to goals from Harrison Matsuoka, Tyler Pace, and Robert Hudson, who made his debut for the Roughnecks tonight. The Rock battled back in the second, adding three to their total, while the Roughnecks maintained a one-goal lead thanks to goals from Haiden Dickson and Shane Simpson.

Hudson netted his second of the game to start the second half, which kicked off a four-goal run for Calgary. Matsuoka added his second goal of the night with an assist from Del Bianco. Jesse King added his second, with Josh Currier adding a fourth goal while Toronto were kept scoreless. Despite a fourth quarter push from the Rock which saw five goals fall for the home side, the Roughnecks were able to hold onto the lead with Thomas Hoggarth finding the back of the net for Calgary to leave the final score 11-10.

Robert Hudson's two goals tonight were his first in his NLL career, as well as his first as a Roughneck. He finished the night with two points along with Harrison Matsuoka (2g) and Tanner Cook (2a). Jesse King again led Calgary's offence in points with 5 (2g, 3a), with Tyler Pace finishing his night with 3 (1g, 2a).

Zach Currier was strong in transition, tallying 14 loose balls, 2 blocked shots and an assist. Justin Inacio went 7-23 on the faceoff, and Christian Del Bianco made 44 saves in the Calgary net as the Rock outshot the Roughnecks 54-49.

The Riggers now return home to WestJet Field on Sunday, February 18th to take on the Halifax Thunderbirds for the East Coast Kitchen Party.
