What to Watch for vs. Calgary Roughnecks

February 10, 2024 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Toronto Rock News Release

Hamilton, ON - The Toronto Rock (6-1) will faceoff against the Calgary Roughnecks (2-5) on Saturday night at FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, ON. Last week, the Rock beat the Roughnecks 9-7 on the road, so the season series is on the line tonight as a Rock win gives them the two-game sweep.

Fans can watch the game vs. Calgary at 7:00pm ET on TSN's digital platform TSN+ via TSN.ca and the TSN App as well as ESPN+. To stream the game, you need a TSN+ subscription.

Here's what to watch for in Saturday's matchup.

2010, 2015, 2019, and now 2024 have all seen the Rock get off to 6-1 starts. 2015 and 2019 are the only two seasons where the team moved to 7-1. The Rock's best single loss start came in 2015 when the Rock started 9-1. This year's 5-0 start stands alone as the Rock's longest winning streak to begin a season.

Nick Rose was the runner-up for goalie of the year last season to Calgary starter, and reigning NLL MVP, Christian Del Bianco. Both goalies did what they often do, that is hold their opponent to less than 10 goals. Last Saturday, Rose got the better of CDB allowing just 7 goals and making 39 saves while the Rock were outshot 46-41.

While Nick Rose hit the 100-win mark for his career last week, he's at 99 career wins with the Rock. His next win will make him just the second goalie in Rock franchise history to win 100 games. The other is franchise leader Bob Watson who won 105 games.

Bill Hostrawser will play his 150th regular season game in a Rock jersey, making him just the 10th player in franchise history to hit the milestone.

Chris Corbeil has missed all seven games this season with an upper body injury but this morning he was moved to the Active Roster for tonight's game.

Injury Report: Chris Boushy (UBI) is listed as questionable, Tyler Hendrycks (Appendix) is listed as out and has been placed on the PUP List.

The Rock are off to Montreal next weekend for the Unboxed Series against the New York Riptide at Place Bell in Laval, QC on Friday night. The game will be broadcast live from coast to coast on TSN.
