
Cal Heeter Named CCM / ECHL Goaltender of the Week

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears are proud to announce that goaltender Cal Heeter has been selected as the CCM/ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Nov. 20-26. This is Heeter's first-ever selection as the CCM /ECHL Goaltender of the Week, and it is the fourth time in league history that an Orlando goalie has received the honor.
Heeter, 29, went 3-0-0 with a 1.63 goals-against average and a save percentage of .945 in three appearances last week. Heeter stopped 33 shots in a 4-1 win over Jacksonville on Tuesday, made 23 saves in a 3-2 victory against South Carolina on Saturday and turned aside 30 shots in a 3-2 shootout win over the Stingrays on Sunday. A native of St. Louis, Mo., Heeter has appeared in 13 games with the Solar Bears this season, posting a record of 4-5-2 with a 3.22 goals-against average and a .889 save percentage.
Under contract with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, Heeter has seen action in 42 career ECHL games with Orlando, Toledo, Evansville and Trenton, going 24-11-3 with one shutout, a 3.02 goals-against average and a save percentage of .898. He has also appeared in 89 career AHL games with Grand Rapids, Toronto and Adirondack, where he is 38-43-5 with five shutouts, a 2.68 goals-against average and a save percentage of .914. Heeter also appeared in one game with the Philadelphia Flyers during the 2013-14 season, and has played overseas with Germany's Hamburg Freezers of the DEL and Croatia's KHL Medvescak Zagreb of Russia's KHL.
Prior to turning pro, Heeter appeared in 94 career games at Ohio State University, where he posted an overall record of 39-36-11 with five shutouts, a 2.58 goals-against average and a save percentage of .915.

The Solar Bears begin a season-long 10-game road trip tonight when they take on the Jacksonville Icemen at Veterans Memorial Arena at 7:30 p.m. Orlando returns to the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center on Wednesday, Dec. 20, as the team hosts the Norfolk Admirals at 7 p.m. Single-game tickets for the 2017-18 season are now on sale at the Amway Center box office and ticketmaster.com.
