
Cabral and Eckert get long-term deals

Montreal, May 18, 2005 - Montreal Alouettes Vice-President and General Manager Jim Popp is thrilled to announce that defensive tackle Victor Cabral and wide receiver Adam Eckert have signed four-year contracts with the Alouettes, bringing to six the number of 2005 draft picks who have signed long-term contracts with the organization.
Victor Cabral (6'2'', 254 lbs) was a third-round pick, 24th overall. In 11 games in 2004 with the Georgia Southern University Eagles, he registered 23 tackles, including four for losses of 20 yards. He had one quarterback sack and one pass knock down. Over his career, Cabral had 147 career tackles, of which 23 were for losses.
Adam Eckert (5'11'', 170 lbs) was selected in the sixth round, 49th overall. Eckert was Dickinson State's top receiver in 2004 with 30 receptions for 582 yards and four touchdowns in 12 games. He was named first-team All DAC-10 in 2003 when he led the Blue Hawks' receivers with 665 yards and seven touchdowns on 30 catches in 11 games. He was also the team's top return specialist in 2003 with 21 returns for 582 yards.
Both players are expected at rookie camp which begins on Thursday, May 26, in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.
