
Busy Week for Islanders Begins Tonight in Halifax

The Charlottetown Islanders kick off a busy week of action in Halifax when they take on the Memorial Cup host Halifax Mooseheads tonight at the Scotiabank Centre at 7:00pm
This game marks the first of four game in six nights for the Islanders (14-7-1-0). They're coming off of an 8-3 victory over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Saturday night, their third win in a row and 8th in their last 10 games. They sit fourth in the Eastern Conference and sixth overall in the QMJHL.
Daniel Hardie continues to lead the Islanders with 28 points this season, good for 15th in the QMJHL. With 12 points in six November games, captain Pierre-Olivier Joseph has rocketed up the statistical leaderboard with 19 points in 19 games overall; he now sits sixth among all defenseman in the league.
The Mooseheads (16-4-1-0) are just four points ahead of the Islanders in the QMJHL standings, fourth overall with 33 points. They've not lost in regulation in five straight games. The team was supposed to play the Saint John Sea Dogs on Friday night, however the game was postponed due to travel issues related to the six Mooseheads who took part in the Canada-Russia Series.
Overage forward Samuel Asselin leads a balanced offensive attack with 26 points in 22 games this season. He's one of six Mooseheads forwards with more than 20 points, while defenseman Jared MacIsaac and forward Ostap Safin have each scored at a point-per-game pace since returning from respective injuries.
Joseph says he's looking forward to facing one of the top teams in the league.
"It's always fun to play against teams like that when we're playing well like we are." said the captain. "We want to show the league that we're up there too and we want to compete this year."
