Burn sign QB, add Idaho State Bengal to roster

BOISE, Idaho - The Boise Burn will head into the 2008 season with one of the arenafootball2's top quarterback's from 2007. Today the team announced that QB Jason Campbell has been assigned to the Boise Burn by the League Office. Wide receivers Shadrach Okoebor and Chris Boock, and fullback/linebackers Corey Dodds and Zach Tune have also been assigned to the team, growing the 2008 Boise Burn roster to 18 players thus far.
Campbell, a product of Arkansas Tech University, was eighth in the league in passer rating with the af2's Everett Hawks in 2007 with a rating of 111.7. The 6-2, 215-pounder completed 319 of 514 passes racking up 3,663 yards and 84 TD's in 15 games last season.
Okoebor, a former Idaho State Bengal wide receiver, played in one game with the af2's Bakersfield Blitz in 2007 where he caught two passes for 15 yards in his only action of the season. Known to his friends as Shak, the 6-0, 195-pounder played four years with the Idaho State Bengals, finishing his college career with 157 catches, 1,828 yards and 11 scores.
Dodds will return to the Burn for a second year. Dodd's, 6-3, 220-pounds, recorded 42.5 tackles 1 interception and 6 fumble recoveries (3 returned for TD's).
Free agent Tune, 6-2, 247-pounds, was a teammate of Dodds and current San Francisco 49er QB Alex Smith at the University of Utah where he played linebacker for the Utes from 2001-2003. Tune finished his college playing days at the University of Montana-Western and spent last year in the Professional Indoor Football League playing for the Billings Outlaws.
Boock, 5-8, 175-pounds, was a defensive back for Linfield from 2002-05. As a three-year starter for the Wildcats, he won the 2004 national championship with current Boise Burn player Casey Allen.
The Boise Burn roster consists of the following players to-date: WR/LB Casey Allen; K Dan Beardall; WR/DB Chris Boock; QB Jason Campbell; WR/DB Bryan Langford; OL/DL Joe Critchfield; FB/LB Corey Dodds; FB/LB Kelly Gilchrist; OL/DL Derek Governor; WR/DB Ahmad Harris; FB/LB Levi Madarieta; WR/DB Shadrach Okoebor; OL/DL Mike Peko; QB Matt Schabert; WR/DB Rob Sirstins; DL Tofi Travis; WR/LB Zach Tune; OL/DL Mark Weivoda.
The Boise Burn are looking to fill in the gaps with several positions still available at the first tryout of the year tomorrow, Saturday, November 10th, at the Caven-Williams Indoor Sports Complex. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. The tryout will run from 9:00 a.m.-Noon. Cost is $45 with an Idaho Driver's License and $55 without. Last year, seven players were signed to the team from similar tryouts.
The af2 expects to release the 2008 League schedule later this month.
