Spokane Shock News Release
The Spokane Shock announced today that they have added OL/DL Harrison Nikolao to their 2008 roster.
Nikolao, 6'4 314, completed a decorated collegiate career at Eastern Washington University in 2006. He spent the most of his career as a defensive tackle, tallying 80 total tackles, with 7.5 sacks, and one forced fumble. In 2005, his defensive efforts earned him second team All-Big Sky Conference recognition. His final season at Eastern, Nikolao switched to offensive guard and played in 10 games.
After finishing his career at Eastern, Nikolao signed a free agent contract with the Cincinnati Bengals on May 2nd 2007 (as a guard). He was released by the Bengals at the end of training camp, after playing in four pre-season games.
"As much recruiting as we do all over the country, it's very important to keep our local talent here in Spokane," Head Coach Adam Shackleford said. "Harrison still has a desire to play in the NFL and we hope a year with us will help him achieve that again."
In other Shock news, former DB Alex Teems and OL Amos Lamb both signed AFL contracts with Cleveland (formerly the Las Vegas Gladiators). Lamb helped anchor a strong offensive line for the Shock starting in all 17 games. Teems, a former WSU Cougar, was an important ingredient to a potent Shock secondary in 2007. He led the team in tackles (98) and pass break-ups (30) and had three interceptions.
DL Elbert Shumake, who the Shock signed on October 5th, was signed by the AFL's Georgia Force.
