
Burkemper Commits To Minnesota State University

DES MOINES - Head Coach Mike Guentzel and General Manager & Director of Hockey Operations J.P. Parise announced today that forward J.P. Burkemper has committed to the Minnesota State University.
Burkemper has played two seasons with the Buccaneers. In 2008 - 2009, he appeared in 55 games and had 6 goals, 16 assists and 22 points. This season Burkemper has appeared in 17 games and has 3 goals, 4 assists and 7 points. The 6'3", 190 lbs. forward started his season on November 19th after an injury during the USHL Fall Classic. He scored his first goal of the 2009 - 2010 season on December 12th against Tri-City. The St. Louis, Missouri native is expected to play for Minnesota State in the Fall of 2010.
Minnesota State University is a Division I school in the WCHA conference. The team is currently 11-11-2 overall and 5-10-1 in the WCHA. The Mavericks are coached by Troy Jutting, while former Buccaneer coach Todd Knott is an assistant coach.
Former Buccaneer Michael Dorr currently plays for the Mavericks and current Buccaneer Danny Heath is also committed to Minnesota State.
With the addition of Burkemper's commitment, the Des Moines Buccaneers now have 13 players committed to Division I schools.
