York Revolution News Release

Brian Burgamy became the first player in York Revolution history to homer from both sides of the plate in the same game keying another big offensive performance, but the Revs were let down by their defense, losing 13-9 to the Camden Riversharks on Saturday evening at Campbell's Field. The two teams have split the first two games of the series, which continues on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m.

The start was promising for the Revs, as Eric Patterson cracked the second pitch of the game over the right field fence for York's first game-opening leadoff home run of the season. The Revs would take a 3-0 lead in the first, also scoring on a bases loaded walk to Wilson Batista and a hit by pitch of James Shanks. Camden starter Josh Walter left the bases loaded, however, retiring Patrick Arlis on a pop up and Manny Mayorson on a grounder in the hole at short with Camden shortstop Wilson Valdez making a nice defensive play and first baseman Delwyn Young picking the low throw to deny the Revs any further runs.

Camden then smacked York with a seven run bottom of the first, the biggest inning allowed by the Revs so far this season. Chris Walker led off with a bunt single, and took third on a hit-and-run executed by Valdez on a single to right. Paddy Matera then ripped an RBI double to left for the hosts' first run. Young followed with a sacrifice fly to right field, but the Revs missed a potential chance to throw out Valdez at the plate who had failed to tag initially and broke late. Raul Padron then singled up the middle, and center fielder Ruddy Yan made a perfect throw to the plate ahead of Matera's arrival, but Matera was called safe, tying the game immediately. Eduardo Perez then doubled to left, driving in the go-ahead run. Salomon Manriquez reached on an error by Batista at third base to put runners at the corners, and Juan Martinez tripled to the alley in right-center, plating both runners to make it 6-3. Burt Reynolds rounded out the order with a fielder's choice grounder to short, as Mayorson's throw home sailed wide for the second error of the inning, allowing Martinez to score increasing Camden's lead to 7-3.

Burgamy blasted his first home run, a two-run shot to right in the second, bringing the Revs back within 7-5.

Camden tacked on three more in the third, as Manriquez scored when Yan overran Walker's single to center, resulting in an error. Valdez then singled to left, driving in two more to make it 10-5 Camden.

The Revs made their way back scoring twice in the fourth on an RBI triple to left-center by Burgamy who then crossed on a wild pitch, and in the fifth on an RBI single to left by Andres Perez, pulling within 10-8.

Camden put it out of reach with three in the seventh, however, as a throwing error by pitcher Stephen Penney on a sacrifice bunt plated two runs, with a wild pitch bringing home one more.

Needing a double to hit for the cycle, Burgamy launched a solo homer to left-center in the eighth capping his big night. He went 4-for-5 with two homers, a triple, four RBI, and four runs. His 12 total bases were one shy of York's single-game record.

The Revs' five errors tied the most in a game in club history for the sixth time, and the first time since the 2011 season.

Camden reliever Armando Gabino (1-3) earned the win with two scoreless innings, while York starter Kris Regas (1-2) suffered the loss.

The Revs will send Corey Thurman (2-5, 4.50) to the mound on Sunday afternoon against Camden's Ryan Kulik (1-2, 7.07). Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, YorkRevolution.com, and on the Shoutcast phone app (YorkRevs) beginning at 1:15 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
