Savannah Sand Gnats News Release
SAVANNAH, Ga. - Former Sand Gnats pitchers Greg Bunn and Brett Nyquist were both transferred back to Savannah Tuesday. Both players were with the Potomac Nationals before the roster move.
Bunn and Nyquist will replace relief pitchers Rudy Garza and Ricky Shefka who will both join the Vermont Expos. The organizational shift of pitchers was caused by the Washington Nationals' acquisition of two minor league pitchers from Arizona in exchange for Major League starter Livan Hernandez.
Nyquist began the season with Savannah and is now joining the team for the third time after moving around between here, Potomac and Double-A Harrisburg. Nyquist is 5-2 with a 2.66 ERA in 15 games this season with the Sand Gnats. He struggled to an 0-3 mark with a 6.93 ERA this season with Potomac.
Bunn started 2005 as a starter with Savannah before he was promoted to Potomac. However this season he has worked primarily out of the bullpen in Potomac where he went 1-1 with a 7.22 ERA.
