WUERFEL PARK - The Traverse City Beach Bums are excited to announce the re-signing of left-handed pitcher Ian MacDougall. In his rookie season in 2014, MacDougall made 22 appearances going 6-4 with a 3.25 ERA. He finished among the team leaders in both wins and innings pitched.
"We're very much looking forward to having Ian come back and fit into the rotation" said Beach Bums' manager Dan Rohn. "Ian was very consistent for us last season and we expect him to battle for the fourth or fifth spot in the rotation."
MacDougall displayed versatility in 2014, making 14 starts and coming out of the bullpen eight other times. Over 108 total innings, he allowed only 107 hits and walked just 29.
The 24 year old was the Beach Bums' first round selection in 2013 Frontier League draft but didn't make his debut until last season. He pitched collegiately for Western Oregon University recording seven saves his senior season. As a junior and sophomore, he was an All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference selection.
A native of Santa Cruz, CA, Ian now calls Bend, OR is home during the off-season. His proud parents are John and Peg MacDougall. He also has a younger brother Duncan.
The 10th season of Beach Bums baseball begins Friday May 15 at Evansville at 6:35pm with the home opener scheduled for Friday May 22nd vs. Windy City at 7:05pm.
All games will be broadcast live on 98.1 The Bear.
The Wuerfel Park offices are open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. The Beach Bums will play 51 games at Wuerfel Park in 2015 starting with the home opener and a FANtastic Fireworks Friday on May 22 at 7:05 pm. Season ticket packages are now available!
