Bumpass Homers, G-Reds Score Four in Sixth in Series Opening Win

GREENEVILLE, TN - The Greeneville Reds (15-18) broke a 2-2 tie with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning in their 6-3 win over the Danville Braves (14-20) at Pioneer Park Tuesday night. Luke Berryhill and Allan Cerda drove in two runs each in the win.

Danville scored the first run off RHP Juan Abril in the third. Cody Milligan reached on a one-out bunt single, stole second, and scored on Connor Blair's two-out RBI-single.

A.J. Bumpass' solo home run on the second pitch of the fourth inning to right center field off RHP Darius Vines tied the game. Garrett Wolforth singled one pitch later, and moved first to third on the next pitch on Tyler Callihan's single. Wolforth scored the go-ahead run on Berryhill's sacrifice fly.

Beau Philip scored to tie the game at two in the fifth. Philip singled with two outs, moved to third on Blair's double, and scored on a wild pitch.

Callihan reached on a slowly hit ground ball to third to open the sixth, and advanced to second on Cody Birdsong's throwing error. After moving to third on a wild pitch, Callihan scored on Berryhill's RBI-single to put Greeneville back in front. Justin Gomez reached with one out on Milligan's error at second. Berryhill went first to third on the error, and scored on Ranser Amador's RBI infield single. Gomez and Amador moved up an extra 90-feet on a ground out, and both scored on Cerda's two-out, two-run single to put Greeneville up 6-2.

Danville scored off RHP Matt Gill in the ninth to round out the scoring. Bridsong drew a lead off walk, moved to second on a single, third on a ground out, and scored on Milligan's RBI ground out.

Abril did not factor in the decision, he allowed two runs on six hits and two walks in five innings. Abril also struck out four. RHP Randy Wynne (W, 1-2) earned the win in relief. He allowed an infield single over three scoreless innings. RHP Alger Hodgson (L, 0-3) took the loss. He allowed four runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk in 2.1 innings.

The Reds and Braves continue their series Wednesday night at Pioneer Park, with first pitch coming at 6:30 PM. RHP Gra- ham Ashcraft (2-2, 5.63) will start for Greeneville against RHP Tyler Owens (0-1, 3.86).
