Durham Bulls News Release
DURHAM, NC-The Bulls managed to come from behind once to force extra innings Sunday at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, but they fell behind the Braves in the tenth inning and could not recover, falling to Richmond 4-3. Durham's magic number remains at 13 for the second straight day.
The Bulls tied the game in the eighth inning on Fernando Perez's sacrifice fly plating Chris Richard, but Richmond retook the lead in the top of the 10th inning when Carl Loadenthal grounded to Bulls shortstop Ronnie Merrill, who threw home too late to stop the go-ahead run from scoring.
Ryan Basner (2-2, 8.02) got the win in an inning of relief, allowing a hit and a walk with one strikeout. Jorge Julio collected his seventh save, striking out two in the bottom of the tenth. Scott Dohmann (0-2, 4.01) took the loss in two innings, allowing a run on a hit and three walks.
Richmond plays its final game ever at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park Monday at 7:05 p.m., as the Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves will relocate to Gwinnett County, GA next season. Ben Hendrickson (9-7, 4.05) will start for Durham and southpaw Jo-Jo Reyes (1-1, 1.24) will go for Richmond.
