Amarillo Bulls News Release
Amarillo, TX - Charlie Glockner's seventh shutout of the season and a four-goal night, lifted the Amarillo Bulls past the Odessa Jackalopes, 4-0, on Friday night.
The first period saw an early, backdoor goal from Niclas Puikkonen give the Bulls the 1-0 lead. As the Jackalopes picked up the physicality, the Bulls quickly deflated the energetic Odessa side with a late first period goal from Gagik Malakyan, his first of the season.
Amarillo would duplicate their effort from the first period with a pair of goals, grow its lead to 4-0. Jordan Venegoni would net his 17th of the season just 5:28 into the frame. Kyrre Hellerud sniped his third of the season with just nine second left in the middle period.
The Bulls continued to put pressure on the Jackalopes in the third period but would not grow their lead before the horn sounded, securing the victory.
Charlie Glockner would stop all 23 shots that he faced to earn his 12th victory on the season and his league leading seventh shutout of the season.
With the win, the Bulls are now 26-6-1-2 and hold 55 points and second place in the South Division. The team remains just two points back of the Lone Star Brahmas for the division lead.
The Bulls will remain at home on Saturday, January 11, to take on the Odessa Jackalopes. Mark Shelley will broadcast the game from the Spicy Mike's Bar-B-Q Broadcast Booth, and the action will begin at 7:05PM CST on 107.1 Nash Icon and Hockey TV.
