Philadelphia Rebels News Release

Jamestown, NY - The Rebels (11-23-1-2) dropped their first home contest of the new year by a final score of 7-0 to the visiting Johnstown Tomahawks, extending their current losing streak to 8 games.

In a physical game, the two teams battled tightly in the first period before former Rebel, Reed Stark, broke the scoreless game in favor of Johnstown (22-10-2-2), 12:27 into the opening frame.

The flow of the game changed dramatically in the second period when the visitors added 3 goals to take a commanding 4-0 lead into the final period of play. Johnstown forward Tristan Poissant buried 2 consecutive goals while Colin Price tallied the fourth goal of the game for Johnstown.

In an attempt to re-invigorate his squad, Rebels coach Joe Coombs made a goaltending change to begin the third period, opting for Jon Howe in favor of veteran Noah West, who finished his night stopping 9 of 13 shots. The change wasn't enough, as Johnstown added 3 more goals to put the game away. Bennett Stockdale, Brendan Blair and Collin Price (his second) potted the third period tallies for the visitors.

Tomahawks goalie David Tomeo earned the shutout in net, stopping all 16 shots the Rebels put on him. Johnstown also converted on both power plays for the night, while Jamestown was 0/3 with the man advantage. Final shots for the game were 24 to 16 in favor of Johnstown.

The Rebels will host the Tomahawks once again Saturday night at Northwest Arena, searching for their first victory since December 7th against the Black Bears.
