Durham Bulls News Release
DURHAM, NC - For the second night in a row the Durham Bulls shut out the Buffalo Bisons, earning a 1-0 win Wednesday night at the DBAP.
Coming off a 7-0 victory on Tuesday night, the Durham pitching staff blanked Buffalo (15-11) once again, as four pitchers combined on the team's third shutout of the season. Right-hander Dylan Floro (3-2) picked up the victory, tossing six innings of three-hit ball, before Grant Balfour and Andy Oliver each pitched a scoreless frame. In the ninth, Ronald Belisario earned his fourth save of the campaign, facing the minimum three batters.
Durham (16-11) scored the game's lone run when Taylor Motter doubled to left field with one out in the third inning, and came around to score two batters later on a single off the bat of Mikie Mahtook. Mahtook was the only player from either team to finish with a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4.
Southpaw Daniel Norris (0-1) was the loser for Buffalo, surrendering one run on just four hits over 5 1/3 innings.
The win clinched the series victory for the Bulls, who have now won five straight series, and are now 22-5 against Buffalo at the DBAP since the start of the 2009 campaign.
The Bulls go for the series sweep Thursday when they send RHP Matt Andriese (0-0, 0.00) to the hill in his first start of the season for Durham, opposite RHP Miguel Castro (NR) for the Bisons. First pitch is scheduled for 11:05 a.m.
