Asheville Tourists News Release

CHARLESTON--The Asheville Tourists' bullpen was once again faced with a pressure packed situation against the Charleston RiverDogs. And for the third straight game they delivered. The Tourists hung on late to defeat the RiverDogs 4-3 on Sunday evening.

Tourists starting pitcher Antonio Santos pitched six innings for the fourth time in his four starts. He departed with a 4-2 lead. Ryan Luna, Kenny Oakley, JD Hammer, and Justin Lawrence combined to spin the final three innings and limit the RiverDogs to only one run.

Asheville's offense pounded out 12 hits including three apiece from Willie Abreu and Jacob Bosiokovic. Taylor Snyder added a pair of doubles to the attack and for the first time in their last seven games the Tourists surpassed the three-run plateau.

After Charleston managed an unearned run in the top of the first, Abreu singled home Tyler Nevin and Snyder in the top of the second. Synder and Abreu came through with back-to-back RBI base hits in the fourth to give Asheville a 4-1 advantage. Estevan Florial's solo Home Run in the fifth made it 4-2; however the RiverDogs would never draw even.

Hammer and Lawrence each notched a pair of strikeouts in their inning of work while Oakley and Luna combined for three outs in the seventh. The win was Asheville's third straight after dropping five in a row prior to.

Monday night will bring in a new opponent; the Columbia Fireflies. Asheville can clinch a winning road trip with just one more win over the next three days, but no doubt will look to take two or possibly three from the Fireflies at Spirit Communications Park.
