Ogden Raptors News Release
The Raptors needed a response after falling short in Game 3 - and that's exactly what they delivered.
Fresh off his best outing in two seasons wearing an Ogden uniform, Shane Gustafson struggled to find the same rhythm. Though he showed flashes of sharpness - striking out four and walking none - the Hawks connected often, tagging him for six runs (five earned) on eight hits. Gustafson's night ended in the fourth inning.
Fortunately, the Raptors' bats came ready to play. Cole Jordan opened the scoring with a two-run double, followed by a sacrifice fly from Charles Updegrave to give Ogden a 3-0 lead in the first. Dylan Wilkinson kept the offense rolling with his first home run of the season, extending the lead to 4-1 in the next inning.
After the Hawks clawed back to tie it at four, Wilkinson came through again. This time, a two-run single up the middle put the Raptors back on top. Later in the same fourth inning, Damian Stone added insurance with a fielder's choice RBI, pushing the lead to 7-4.
Boise responded with two runs in the bottom half to make it a one-run game, but the Raptors' bullpen locked things down from there.
Nico Saltaformaggio was first out of the pen and looked dominant, tossing two shutout innings while allowing just one hit. With a two-run lead in the sixth, Jestin Jones kept the momentum going - dodging barrels and posting another clean frame, including a strikeout.
From there, the back end of the bullpen was untouchable. Christian Ciuffetelli, Cameron Edmonson, and Nik Cardinal combined for three scoreless innings, giving up just two hits, striking out six, and walking none - a clutch showing in high-leverage spots that sealed the win.
The Game 4 win ensures at least a series split for the Raptors and gives them the momentum heading into the final two games. With the series win now in reach, Ogden looks to finish strong before returning home to Lindquist Field for their second homestand of the season - a six-game set against the Great Falls Voyagers, beginning Tuesday, June 10.
