Mobile, AL - The Mississippi Braves' bullpen fired 7 1/3 shutout innings on Sunday evening and the offense jumped the yard twice in a 6-0 win over the Mobile BayBears at Hank Aaron Stadium.

With the win, Mississippi (33-23; 72-53) moved back into a virtual tie with the BayBears (32-22; 74-49) for first place in the South Division.

The Braves jumped out to the lead in the top of the second. Cedric Hunter doubled off of starter Bryan Woodall (0-3), and David Rohm knocked him in with a single to right to make it 1-0.

A batter later, Erik Castro got his first hit as an M-Brave, blasting a home run over the right-centerfield wall for a 3-0 lead.

Braves starter Jason Hursh got a scare in the bottom of the second when a Gerson Montilla comeback line drive struck him, ending his day early after 1 2/3 shutout innings.

Mississippi extended their lead to 4-0 with another run in the third. Barrett Kleinknecht singled with one out and Hunter walked to put two men on for another Rohm RBI single. Rohm finished the day 3-for-4 and two RBIs.

Andrew Robinson (4-0) came on in relief, firing 2 2/3 shutout relief innings on three hits to pick up the win. Jorge Reyes, John Cornely, and Ryan Kelly combined to complete the clean sheet over the final five innings.

The Braves tacked on two more in the eighth inning to grow the lead to 6-0. Kyle Kubitza hit an opposite field blast, his seventh homer of the season, to leadoff the eighth inning. Hunter drew a walk and scored on a Castro single for the game's final run.

The M-Braves look to continue their winning ways in Monday night's second game of the series in Mobile, with first pitch slated for 7:05 PM CT. Right-hander Greg Ross (6-2, 2.12) will get the start against BayBears' right-hander Aaron Blair (3-1, 2.45).
