Green Bay Rockers News Release

The Bullfrogs tallied 11 runs on 12 hits and powered past Battle Creek 11-8 at CO Brown Stadium to avoid their first sweep in a three-game series this season.

The Bullfrogs took an early lead off of Battle Creek starter Cole Swanson in the third frame. After Ryan Matranga and Collin Shaw led off with singles, Billy Moon doubled home Matranga with a two-bagger to right field to give Green Bay a 1-0 lead.

Green Bay added five more in the fourth, its biggest inning of the game, to make the lead 6-0. Jason McMurray, Mac Acker, Matranga, David Armendariz and Nick Stein all scored runs for Bullfrogs in the frame on RBIs from Shaw and Armendariz. An error on Bombers right-fielder Conor Costello allowed three unearned runs to come in.

The Bombers cut into the lead each inning throughout the rest of the game. In the bottom of the fourth, Dan Rockett scored on an error by Jason McMurray at shortstop that allowed Costello to reach. This made it 6-1 in favor of the Bullfrogs.

In the fifth, Colin Willis scored from first base on Rockett's triple, his second of the series, to cut the Green Bay lead to 6-2.

The Bullfrogs added three more in the sixth inning to extend their lead to 9-2. A Ransom LaLonde single scored David Armendariz, Billy Moon scored on a Jason McMurray sacrifice fly, and Justin Seager scored from second on a Mac Acker single.

After two consecutive games in which they came from behind for victory, the Bombers continued to chip away at the lead. Two runs came home in the sixth inning when Conor Costello and Jeremy Shay each scored.

Two Green Bay errors aided Battle Creek's two-out, three-run rally in the seventh inning. This cut the the Bullfrogs' lead to 9-7. Costello started it with a single and then scored when Ransom LaLonde committed a throwing error at third base. After a Kyle Figgins walk, Jeremy Shay scored on Casey Yocum's RBI single. Figgins later scored on a Jason McMurray error.

The Bullfrogs added two vital insurance runs in the eighth inning. Jason McMurray and Mac Acker each scored on RBIs from Colin Shaw and David Armendariz to boost the Bullfrogs' lead to 11-7.
