Bullfrogs' Road Opener Spoiled by Rain

Green Bay Rockers News Release

The Bullfrogs' season opener against the Wisconsin Woodchucks was interrupted and eventually ended by rain in Wausau on Wednesday.

The game got off to a fast-paced start, with both pitchers working quickly and throwing accurately. There were six combined strikeouts in the first three innings, as storm clouds ominously floated in the nearby sky.

The Woodchucks finally scored the game's first hit in the bottom of the third, when Garret Rucker beat out a slow chopper to shortstop for an infield hit. Rucker then attempted a steal of second, on which Wisconsin's Tyler Steib was able to beat a rundown and score from third base for the game's first and, so far, only run.

As the game turned to the fourth inning, a loud crack of thunder rolled through Athletic Park, causing a delay. After waiting over an hour and a half, the game was eventually postponed due to the weather conditions. It is expected to be completed on June 11, when the Bullfrogs next travel to Wausau.

The Bullfrogs' home opener is May 30 against the Wisconsin Woodchucks. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. There are three promotions tomorrow. Opening night presented by Cellcom, Thursday Thursday presented by Miller Lite and 106.7 WKRU and a magnet schedule giveaway presented by Zero in Wisconsin.

Individual and season ticket packages are still available.
