July 15, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis.- The Green Bay Bullfrogs raised more than $2,000 for Old Glory Honor Flight during Military Appreciation Night on July 10.
Old Glory Honor Flight is dedicated to transporting local World War II and Korean War veterans to Washington, D.C. to see the memorials built in their honor. The mission is to offer local World War II and Korean War veterans a memorable, safe and rewarding tour of honor to the nation's capital.
The Bullfrogs wore patriotic uniforms during their 12-7 victory over the Kalamazoo Growlers that were sold in a silent auction during the game. Proceeds of the auction went to the Old Glory Honor Flight, which earned the organization $900 in jersey sales.
"When [General Manager Liz Kern] told me we were donating the jersey proceeds, I couldn't wait to share the news with Old Glory Honor Flight," Bullfrogs Marketing Manager Sieeria Vieaux said. "We are very fortunate to partner with Nicolet National Bank for the Community Connection program. It's a great way for area non-profits to generate exposure at the ballpark, raise funds and enjoy a fun night."
"A big thank you to the Green Bay Bullfrogs organization," said Michelle Majewski, Coordinator for the Community Connection Night. "Not only did we raise some money to send more veterans to Washington, D.C., we also exposed this great organization to the community. Our total from the 50/50 raffle, pin sales and donations allowed us to donate $1,173, which will cover the cost of two veterans going to D.C."
In total, the Bullfrogs have raised $2,073 for the organization with room for more. One of the bat boy jerseys is still available for purchase.
In addition to the money earned, war veterans Jim Thielke, Arnold Effa and Harold and Bert Compton each threw out ceremonial first pitches prior to the game.
Green Bay is in the midst of a seven-game road trip and will play the Duluth Huskies tonight at 6:35. The Bullfrogs return to Joannes Stadium on July 18 for a two-game series with the Kenosha Kingfish before the All-Star break.
Single game tickets are on sale now. Visit www.greenbaybullfrogs.com to purchase tickets. The Bullfrogs' business hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
